Volunteers set to “Love the Rock” on Oct. 23

More than 600 volunteers will join forces with the City of Round Rock to “Love the Rock” on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Round Rock’s annual Love the Rock volunteer event will begin at 8 a.m. at Saint William Catholic Church, 620 Round Rock West Drive. Volunteers from 40 different churches are expected to come together for a single day of volunteer service designed to help their fellow neighbors within the City of Round Rock.

Volunteers will perform voluntary fire safety inspections and smoke detector installation, neighborhood cleanup assistance and curb address painting in the Chisholm Valley neighborhood. Many of those who receive assistance through neighborhood cleanups include the elderly, disabled, people recovering from surgery or illness and single parents. Using tools from the City’s Tool Lending Center, volunteers will mow and weed lawns, trim trees, and bushes, haul heavy items and more. Volunteers will also beautify Old Settlers Park and Rabb Park, as well as several Round Rock ISD campuses.

“Love the Rock is always an inspiring time for our community to come together,” said Joe Brehm, Director of Community Development. “The event is neighbors helping neighbors in need. The City is providing the tools and connecting those in need with our wonderful volunteers. This is the highlight event of the year for our team.”
