Matt Krause, R-Fort Worth, is seeking to remove a common district of innovation, or DOI, exemption that allows school districts to alter the Legislature-mandated start and end dates of school years. This exemption is the most sought-after by districts seeking DOI status, according to a recent Community Impact Newspaper DOI analysis.
