Parks and Recreation Department to host second Summer Job Fair, April 29th

Published on April 28, 2022 under RRnews

SUMMER JOB FAIR OFFERS MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR AGES 15+.  The City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Summer Job Fair from 4:30 to 6:00pm on Friday, April 29th at Micki Krebsbach Pool located at 301 Deepwood Drive.  There will be free pizza, drinks, giveaways and more for all to enjoy

Individuals ages 15 and older are invited to learn about the 350 seasonal job opportunities the department has available. Available positions include Lifeguards, Pool Attendants, Cashiers, Swim Instructors, Pool Management, Summer Camp Counselors, and Summer Camp Leads.  Opportunities have duties ranging from assisting with youth summer camps to lifeguarding and attending to the city’s pools.  Representatives will be available to answer questions and walk individuals through the hiring process, with the opportunity to apply onsite.

Lifeguards make up the largest number of summer positions available for hire (120).  Those who make a commitment to work for the summer as a Lifeguard receive discounted training and are eligible for cash bonuses of $125.  Scholarships are available for training classes.

Of note for individuals interested in Lifeguarding positions, but nervous about the swimming skills required: A special program has been put in place that was recently awarded as an Aquatics International Best of Aquatics winner. View the story here: https://bit.ly/3JXmwEF.  The Pool Attendant (PA) to Lifeguard transition program offers those hired on as Pool Attendants, a position that does not require swimming skills, a paid opportunity to learn to swim.  Once confident in their swimming abilities candidates are transitioned into a paid training class to become Lifeguards.  This is an excellent way to earn money while also learning a life skill in swimming and water safety.

All of the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department summer positions offer a great opportunity to learn job skills that can translate to future careers.  A background in public service and service to the community is one that helps employees stand out as they pursue future endeavors!

All candidates can apply online at www.roundrocktexas.gov/jobs.
