One person dead following early Friday house fire
A woman was declared deceased following a structure fire at a Round Rock home Friday morning.
Seven Round Rock Fire Department units responded to the call at approximately 3:12 a.m. Oct. 11 in the 2600 block of Oak Meadow Drive. When units arrived at 3:17 a.m., one of three occupants was unaccounted for and still inside the residence.
Initial reports from the first arriving company advised that light smoke was showing from inside of the structure, and crews entered the home to locate the unaccounted occupant in the room where the fire began. The woman was unresponsive when removed from the structure at approximately 3:22 a.m., and CPR efforts were initiated by personnel on scene. She was transported to St. David’s Round Rock, where she was pronounced dead.
The fire was extinguished in approximately 17 minutes and no other injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The structure sustained minor damage, and the fire was contained to the room of origin. Round Rock arson investigators and the Round Rock Police Department are investigating the death and cause of fire.
