Downed tree limbs or power lines in Round Rock? Here’s what to do

Published on February 1, 2023 under RRnews

Several Round Rock residents woke up to downed tree limbs due to ice accumulation from the ongoing winter storm, and Oncor’s Storm Center is reporting scattered power outages. Here’s some helpful information about what to do in the case of a downed tree limb or power line:

Downed Tree Limbs

First things first: Any fallen trees on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. Click the button below to learn more about how to drop limbs off at the City’s Brush Recycling Center (free for City of Round Rock residents) or request a pickup of brush at your residence (fee applies).

City of Round Rock Transportation crews continue to work to ensure that roadways are passable; however, they will only remove tree limbs that are blocking roadways and presenting a danger to motorists, which can be reported by calling 512-688-0398.

Downed Power Lines

Never approach, touch or attempt to move a downed power line or any object in contact with a power line. Contact with power lines can cause serious injury or even death.

If you see a downed power line:

  • Leave the area immediately. If a power line is completely down and sparking on the ground, or is laying on the house or has caused a fire in a tree, call 9-1-1.
  • You can also report downed power lines at 1-888-313-4747.
