Travis County Commissioners Court lifts burn ban, appoints new fire marshal

The Travis County Commissioners Court unanimously voted to lift its burn ban until at least March 1 and appointed a new fire marshal during its Feb. 23 meeting. Tony Callaway, who has been the assistant fire marshal with the Travis County fire marshal’s office since 2009, told commissioners before the vote that the rain that occurred on Feb. 22 made him comfortable with lifting the burn ban for one week.
