National Beer Day, celebrated April 7, recognizes the Cullen-Harrison Act, the law that allowed for the legal sale of low-alcohol beer in the United States before Prohibition was repealed Dec. 5, 1933. President Franklin Roosevelt signed the bill March 22, 1933, and it was enacted April 7, 1933. Texas has 189 craft breweries, ranking as the state with the seventh highest number of craft breweries in the country, according to the nonprofit Brewers Association.
