Updated 1:35 p.m. Since its inception in 2007, the Ann Richards school has been on the forefront of maker education, or project-based learning, but not simply due to its arsenal of high-tech gadgets, representatives from the school argued during a SXSWedu panel held today entitled “Maker Ed: It’s Not About What You Make.” What sets the makerspace at Ann Richards apart from others is its integration of social-emotional learning, which teaches students to be compassionate problem solvers.
