Round Rock Fire Chief Robert Isbell has promoted Shane Glaiser to Assistant Chief. Glaiser, a 21-year veteran of the department, had been serving as a Battalion Chief since 2008. Billy Wusterhausen is the other Assistant Chief.

“It’s an honor to be named Assistant Fire Chief, and a title that I will not take lightly,” Glaiser said. “I look forward to continue serving the citizens of Round Rock, members of the Fire Department and employees of the City.”

Glaiser was the department’s project leader for the construction of two new stations that opened in December 2016. He is also the project lead for the department for the construction of a Public Safety Training facility that broke ground in November 2016.

“Shane’s experience and leadership abilities are perfectly suited for this new position,” Chief Isbell said. “He’s done everything from beginning firefighter/EMT to department safety officer to securing donations to refurbish a 1957 fire engine for our Pink Heals cancer awareness efforts.”

Glaiser began his career in Round Rock in June 1995, and has steadily promoted through the ranks. He was a founding member of the department’s bicycle rescue team, technical rescue team and honor guard. He holds a bachelor’s degree in fire science from Columbia Southern University.
