Round Rock ISD to form their own Police Department by 2021

Published on April 26, 2018 under RRnews

In a joint announcement on April 19, the Round Rock Independent School District, Round Rock Police Department, and Williamson County Sheriff’s Office laid out plans for RRISD to form their own Police Department by May 31, 2021. Currently, the District’s 55 campuses are safeguarded by a combination of officers from RRPD, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, and Austin Community College District Police.

The Round Rock Police Department deploys 12 School Resource Officers inside the RRISD schools within its jurisdiction, and it will continue this partnership until a successful transition is made. After this transition, RRPD will still be able to assist the new RRISD Police Department.

Here is the joint letter signed by RRISD Superintendent Steve Flores, Ph.D., RRPD Chief Allen Banks, and Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody.
