Police looking for witnesses to fatal collision

At 11:33 a.m. Monday, April 10, Round Rock Police responded to a motor vehicle crash near Gattis School Road and Meister Lane.

This crash involved a 2006 Saturn Ion and a 2012 Jeep Laredo. The driver of the Saturn was deceased at the scene as a result of the crash. She has been identified as Renee Nicole Husen, 34, of Round Rock.

Initial investigation indicates the Saturn was traveling eastbound and failed to control speed as it approached the intersection, causing the vehicle to cross the double yellow line into oncoming traffic where it was struck by the westbound Jeep.  The driver of the Jeep was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries and is expected to recover.

Investigators believe the wet roads played a significant role in the crash. If you witnessed the collision, investigators are asking you to call Sgt. Darin Bayles at 512-671-2847.
