Pedernales Electric Cooperative warns customers of phone scam

Pedernales Electric Cooperative members are encouraged to be on alert for a phone scam circulating in the area. Members have reported phone calls threatening service disconnection and instructing people to call a phone number with area code 866, according to a PEC statement released Tuesday. If members call the number as directed, they may hear an automated phone directory similar to PEC’s. PEC officials said this phone call is a scam and said that PEC will never call and threaten immediate disconnection, according to the statement.
