One injured in explosion, fire at Round Rock business

At 2:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, Round Rock Fire Department units responded to reports of an explosion and fire at Energetic Materials and Products, 1500 Brandi Lane.

According to the initial investigation, the explosion occurred inside the building as two employees were working inside. One employee suffered serious burns, and is being transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

The explosion was powerful enough to cause some structural damage to the building, according to fire officials.

According to the company’s website, it is an industrial and defense energetic material technology developer.

The Round Rock Fire Marshall’s office, Round Rock Police and ATF agents are investigating the incident.
