Next round of Library, SCORE small business workshops in February, March

The Round Rock Public Library and the SCORE Austin chapter will offer a series of free workshops for small business owners (or those who are interested in starting their own business) on Fridays in February and March, from 1 to 3 p.m. SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship.

This Round Rock Public Library and SCORE partnership is offering timely workshops on financial issues, marketing, strategic planning and alternatives for funding presented by recognized experts and practitioners.

Paperwork! What Do I Need to Have and to Keep?—February 5, 2016

“What documents do I really need for me, the taxing authorities, my bank, and even the people I do business with?” Does this sound familiar? Then this class is for you! Learn the basics of what records to create, how long to keep them, and how to use this information to grow your business! Presented by Lisa Bargsley, CPA, MBA.

This workshop will help participants:

  • Identify guidelines to develop a practical records management policy
  • Identify the types of records to be created, maintained and available for various end users
  • Understand how good recordkeeping creates valuable and usable management information to use for short-term and long-term decisions

Alternatives for Funding Your Start-up or Growing Your Business—March 25, 2016

In this workshop you will be exposed to options for financing your small business, including start-up and expansion. In addition, you will learn what is needed to qualify for various types of financing. The workshop will address traditional bank lending, SBA lending sources and alternative funding such as micro-lending.

A panel of experts including local bankers Bo Rodman of R Bank and Rene Flores of First Texas Bank, and representatives from alternative funding organizations Lift Fund and Able Lending, will lead this engaging and informative workshop.
