“Groundbreaking and Demoday” teed up at Forest Creek Jan. 24

Published on January 18, 2018 under RRnews

Join Mayor Craig Morgan and Round Rock City Council Members at 3 p.m. Jan. 24  at Forest Creek Golf Club for a “Groundbreaking and Demoday” celebration to officially kick off the incredible renovations taking place this year.

The celebration starts with a putting contest at 3 p.m. and will be followed by the demolition of the No. 8 green — known for its difficulty — at 4:30 p.m. Mayor Morgan will take the first ceremonial divot, and guests are welcomed to bring their clubs to take revenge on this infamous green.

In addition to the putting contest and No. 8 green demolition, there will be food, drinks, music, and prizes given for the putting contest and biggest divot from the 8th hole.

During the renovations, the golf course will be closed, but the Forest Creek clubhouse will remain open for community events like a monthly trivia night, holiday socials, live music shows, and a variety of beer and wine dinners at the Player’s Grill, Forest Creek’s restaurant. The Player’s Grill will also offer a “Fairway to Driveway” service for customers to call in food orders and have it brought out for curbside pickup at the golf club. Stay up to date with all of Forest Creek’s events and services here.

The recently refreshed Forest Creek Clubhouse will also remain available to rent for any private events like parties, showers, meetings, team building, receptions and more.

The 2018 renovations at Forest Creek will include:

  • Rebuilding all 18 greens, practice putting green and chipping green to USGA specifications
  • Creation of optional 19th hole
  • Complete renovation of the driving range, including new tee area, range lighting, netting regrading, target greens and sand traps
  • Reconstruction of all bunkers throughout the golf course
  • Improved drainage in low lying areas of the course
  • Installation of new course irrigation system
  • Replacement and renovation of bridges and other infrastructure

Other upgrades include seeding TifEagle Bermuda grass on greens, renovating the practice facility, and adding more forward tees for women and seniors. The grand reopening of the course is tentatively scheduled for late summer of 2018.
