Fire weather concerns plague Central Texas

Published on October 14, 2015 under CommunityImpact

Residents along the I-35 corridor in the Austin area are being asked to exercise caution as dry conditions can lead to wildfires. On Oct. 14 Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape issued a disaster declaration in light of a wildfire known as the Hidden Pines Fire that had enveloped 1,512 acres as of 3:12 p.m. that day, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. The fire was 50 percent contained as of that time. According to the National Weather Service, Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Gillespie, Lee, Llano, Travis and Williamson counties are among the areas in which fire conditions are most critical.
