County to seek public input on health services

Published on September 6, 2018 under RRnews

Williamson County residents will have two opportunities to give input and shape the future of health-related services offered in the region.

The first opportunity will be on Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15, when Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) public health teams will travel to randomly selected neighborhoods across Williamson County to conduct door-to-door surveys. Teams will be asking residents general questions about their household’s health.

These door-to-door surveys mark the third phase of the Community Heath Assessment (CHA), which engages community members and local health system partners to collect and analyze health-related data from many sources. The feedback will be used to inform decision-making, prioritize health issues, and assist in the development and implementation of Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

Survey team members will include public health employees and public health students from area universities. The survey will not be used to collect any personal health information and will only be conducted during daylight hours. Participation in the survey is voluntary and residents may decline to participate if approached by interviewers. All survey volunteers will be wearing clearly marked vests and will have identification cards.

An additional examination survey will be conducted throughout Williamson County in January through March 2019 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Center for Health Statistics. This survey consists of an in-home interview and physical exam. More information can be found at cdc.gov/nhanes.

Community involvement and engagement is critical throughout the entire CHA/CHIP process. More information on the process can be found at healthywilliamsoncounty.org/cha. The Williamson County and Cities Health District has provided local public health services to Williamson County since 1943. The District’s Public Health Centers and offices are located in Cedar Park, Georgetown, Round Rock, and Taylor. Learn more at wcchd.org.
