City wins three national awards for video production

The City won three awards Sept. 7 at the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) annual conference in Anaheim, Calif.

Round Rock won two first place awards and one second place in the Savvy Awards competition, which honors excellence in local government communications.

Winning entries were:

  • TV and Video Public Service Announcement  – The Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division needed to inform residents about safety during thunderstorms, When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors video placed first in the population 60,000-130,000 category.
  • TV and Video One-Time Special ProgramingThe Immortal Ten video, a bus carrying the Baylor University basketball team is struck by a train in Round Rock; 10 on board are killed. Now, 90 years later, the City remembers those who were lost — and those who survived — in a very special way. This video won in the population 71,000-200,000 category.
  • TV and Video Education and Training – The Cities regional partner, Williamson County Animal Shelter, was highlighted for the Purrr-fect Budget Video, which notched second-place in the population 60,000 – 125,000 category.
