Citizens offer additional input on Transportation Master Plan Update

Published on March 22, 2017 under RRnews

The City continues to solicit input from residents on the Transportation Master Plan Update, and the first round of feedback showed congestion on major streets should be the highest priority addressed by the update.

A second Open House for the Transportation Master Plan Update was held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Allen R. Baca Center. The come-and-go open house provided a second opportunity for attendees to review exhibits shown at the first Open House. New exhibits were also prepared. These included results of the Transportation Master Plan Survey, updated cross sections for City streets, and a preliminary draft of the updated Thoroughfare Plan.

City officials and their consultants were on hand to answer questions and talk about the plan. Forty-seven people attended the event and were able to ask questions or leave comments.

This document summarizes the meeting, and includes survey results and written comments received.

Next steps

The next steps in the TMP Update process include:

  • Consider input received at the second meeting and review and refine the Thoroughfare Plan
  • Develop a Capital Improvements Plan that will prioritize projects as need grows and funding becomes available
  • Draft a final Transportation Master Plan document and present to the City Council for adoption

Previous opportunities for input

There have been several previous opportunities to get involved and stay informed. This document summarizes the public input received prior to the second Open House meeting. This map geocodes comments by location.

Neighborhood workshops: The TMP Update team hosted four neighborhood workshops in October 2016, one for each quadrant of the City. Project goals and related topics were discussed and community members had an opportunity to provide input, share ideas, ask questions and voice any concerns related to the project. Here is the information that was presented.

The first Open House was held Sept. 20, 2016, at the Allen R. Baca Center. City officials and their consultants introduced the project and answered questions. Attendees had an opportunity to learn about the TMP Update process, provide feedback on their perspective of transportation issues and deficiencies, the problems the TMP update will address, and sign up to receive project updates

Survey: An online survey was conducted to solicit feedback about the transportation network in Round Rock. More than 1,090 citizens participated in the survey.

Sign up to receive updates: As the project progresses, emails and notices will be sent out periodically to provide project updates or to announce upcoming meetings. You can sign up to the project mailing list to receive these emails and stay informed. Click here to sign up for the email distribution list.
