Buckingham wins Republican primary runoff for state Senate District 24 seat

Updated May 24 at 10:20 p.m. With all precincts reporting districtwide, unofficial final voting results show Dr. Dawn Buckingham, with 61.34 percent of the vote, or 26,413 votes, the winner of the Republican primary election runoff for the state Senate District 24 seat over Susan King, who tallied 38.65 percent of the vote, or 16,645 votes. “I think the voters have spoken decisively,” said Tom Mechler, chairman of the Republican Party of Texas. “It’s a great win for Dr. Buckingham.” Buckingham could not be reached for comment.
