Austin protest against sanctuary city law set for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day in Austin will be observed with more than just brunch and mimosas. Local groups are set to rally Sunday in protest of the state’s recently signed sanctuary city law. The rally takes place Sunday from noon-2 p.m. Beginning at Austin City Hall, 301 W. Second St., Austin, the march will end at the Governor’s Mansion, 1010 Colorado St., Austin. The organizations coordinating the event include Education Austin, a union for employees at Austin ISD;  Grassroots Leadership; Inmigrantes Unidos; United We Dream; University Leadership Initiative; and the Workers Defense Project.
